Ruddington drivers are being slowed down again at the northern end of our village from today – due to new roadworks which began this lunchtime and are scheduled to last a fortnight.
Major gas work is being carried out by Cadent on Wilford Road at the gateway to Lodge Farm – near the entrance to Ruddington Grange Golf Club – meaning off-peak temporary traffic lights are in use from Wednesday 18th September to Wednesday 2nd October inclusive. Workers say the old main in the verge alongside the highway is being cut off at both ends because it is no longer required for gas supply purposes. The roadworks will then move alongside Sellors’ Playing Field for the remainder of the work to be carried out.
As this is a derestricted section of Wilford Road motorists are being urged to reduce their speed in plenty of time and take extra care when approaching the works. The dedicated cycle-path is not affected and all cyclists are being urged to use it, in the interests of road safety.
The temporary signals are scheduled to be in use only from 9.30am to 3.30pm each day, so it’s hoped there should be no peak-time delays for drivers or for Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 bus service which uses this route.
ALSO: Residents on a Ruddington Estate are being forewarned of road closures and restrictions for autumn resurfacing works.
Between 8.00am and 4.00pm from Monday 30th September 2019 to Friday 4th October 2019 the following streets will be closed:
- Packman Drive, for its entire length
- St Mary’s Crescent, for its entire length
- Lower Canaan, for its entire length
- Abingdon Drive, for its entire length
- St Johns Road, for its entire length
A temporary prohibition of driving, waiting, loading and unloading will be in force.
VIA East Midlands – which is carrying out the work on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council – says resident access will be maintained, but motorists who usually use some of these estate roads as a cut-through will not be able to do so whilst work is in progress. It is also likely a temporary diversion will be required for Nottingham City Transport’s Green 10 buses.
